The Linn
The White Cart Water flows through Linn Park. Linn is a old scots word for waterfall, and the natural falls are one of the most visited features in the park. The waterfall occur where a hard igneous sill of rock was intruded between softer sedimentary roak layers approximately 270 million years ago. The waterfall has been used a source of power, driving mill machinery on both sides of the river in the past. Some of this heritage can still be seen along the course of the White Cart within Linn Park.
Over the last few decades the water quality on the river has improved resulting in otters, kingfishers and dippers being frequently sighted in the river at Linn Park.
