Parts of Linn Park are categorised as ‘Ancient Woodland’ – this means woodland can be marked present in areas since 1750 which marks the start of accurate land use recording in Scotland. The current trees are not descended from the ancient wood, but were planted at some time in the early 20th century. This gives them the category of ‘Plantation on Ancient Woodland (PAWS).

Friends of Linn Park are continuing the work of trying to eradicate or limit non-native species within the park.

A rich variety of trees, plants, funghi and wildlife can be found amongst the woodland.
