The White Cart Water has provided the power source for many indistries along it’s length. The power was harnessed three times within what is now Linn Park, once at the natural waterfall, and then at Millhom Dam and then at Cathcart Mill dam.

Remains of these industrious times can be seen throughout the park.

Within the area of the wildlife trail there were mine workings and lime kilns.

At Court Knowe, stone was quarried.

The remnants of (possibly) a retort stand close by the white bridge.
